Hedychium elipticum Flowering Shrub

Hedychium Elipticum - Ginger Lily. Hedychium or Ginger Lillies are grown for their lance-shaped foliage like Cannas, although grow on cane-like stems.  This Hedychium can grow to 4 feet tall and produce very fragrant, orange flowerheads in summer/autumn. Hedychium Elipticum is a stout growing species with deep-green ribbed leaves & red-edged stems. They are best grown in humus-rich, moist but well drained soil in shade or partial-shade, though they will still grow in full sun only smaller. Protect from strong cold winds and provide a deep winter mulch. It is better to dig the rhizomes up and remove the foliage. They will grow faster after being re-planted like bulbs in Spring.

Available in 5 Litre pots with strong rhizomes which can be divided if desired.
