Strelitzia reginae Bird of Paradise

Strelitzia reginae or Bird of Paradise has paddle-shaped green leaves and produces vivid orange and blue, bird like flowers when 3-4 years old. It is a very easy to grow banana like plant and can be positioned in part-shade or full sun if well watered. Strelitzia can be grown in a well-lit room all year or sheltered garden from May to September and is worth space anywhere you have available. Very easy to grow and worth the effort although it is worth noting that flowering can be erratic!.
