Arbutus unedo Tree

Arbutus unedo or Strawberry Tree is a hardy tree or evergreen shrub. Arbutus produce masses of beautiful white flowers in November and December and as the fruit takes 12 months to ripen can have mature fruit and flowers on at the same time! The red fruit is edible but it does not taste like a strawberry and you will either love it or hate it. It prefers a well-drained soil in full-sun to part-shade and can be grown in a windy exposed location as long as it is protected from cold, drying North Easterly winds.
