Product description:

Eriobotrya japonica is an unusual evergreen shrub/tree with large leaves up to 30cm long. Eriobotrya usually grows between 3-4 metres (10-12 feet) tall. The huge leaves resemble a Sweet Chesnut but are a deep green colour, very thick and stiff with a whitish furry underside. Eriobotrya have been known to produce edible pear-shaped yellow loquat fruit in the UK in very sheltered areas especially after a hot summer. The Loquat likes well-drained soil (not limey) in full-sun or part-shade and planting against a south-facing wall or sheltered location is a benefit. They are fully hardy to at least -9C, though below -12C they may suffer damage. Continual hard frost will prevent this tree from fruiting as they flower in the winter.

Available from March 2010 in 10 litre pots 150cm inc. pot & 17 Litre pots 200cm tall
