Prunus armeniaca or Apricot trees are hardy deciduous & well known trees which produce edible Apricots in the UK. Apricots will grow best in full sun in the ground in an alkaline soil. Adding lime if you have acidic soil is essential. Apricot trees will blossom in early spring and fruit will follow in summer. Pruning the tree so it has an open crown is recommended and heavy watering when fruiting is essential to prevent the apricots from splitting when ripening. Prunus armeniaca can be fan-trained against a wall, pruned or left to grow into a tree up to 8-10 feet tall.
