Product description:

Punica granatum or Pomegranate is a well known shrub/tree which can produce edible pomegranate fruit. It is quite hardy in the UK (-9C), though a sheltered place is recommended for it to fruit properly. Hard frosts may damage the new spring growth but the pomegranate will re-grow. Planting against a south-facing wall or sheltered location will help. The slender branches grow outwards and as they mature form a fountain shape. Pomegranates produce beautiful red trumpet-shaped flowers up to 6cm long all summer and it is from these flowers that the fruits emerge. They can be grown as a single specimen and pruned to a desirable shape or used as a hedge planted 4-5 feet apart. Punica seem to grow well in most soils (well-drained is best) and can be grown in pots. The fruit should be picked before they split and they store for an extended period. SOLD
