Equisetum ramosissimum Japonicum are very attractive clump forming bamboo-like reeds with upright stems and dark coloured nodes at regular intervals. They like damp, boggy ground and can be grown as a marginal plant if required in full sun. The stems have an interesting alternating colour and are particularly striking resembling a giant horsetail without being invasive. They are often used with cut flowers.
