Product description:

Butia eriospatha is possibly the hardiest of all the Butias and is supposedly hardy to -10°C or lower when mature. Butia eriospatha are similar to Butia capitata except they are slightly faster growing, produce a wooly flower stalk cover (inflorescence spathe) and perform well in wetter, cooler climates. These Butia are native to Southern Brazil and grow at altitude where temperatures in winter are regularly below freezing. Butia eriospatha produce edible small orange/red fruit and can reach 15-20 feet tall. Large Butia have a stout trunk topped by a thick crown of large, graceful, downward-curving leaves, each leaf measuring 2m or more in length. The strongly curving leaves are a blue-green colour making this an essential palm for the exotic garden.
