Phormium Tenax Flax Plant

Phormium Tenax or New Zealand Flax are striking architectural plants which require virtually no maintenance. They are upright evergreen perennials with rigid spiky leaves, dark green above, blue-green below and are almost indestructible! Phormium Tenax are also great for exposed locations having huge upright strap-like green leaves. Flowers on mature specimens shoot up on massive spikes and are one of the most architectural garden plants, year round interest. They are very hardy, tolerating drought or cold winter wet.
