Eucalyptus Gunnii - Cider Gum Tree

Eucalyptus Gunnii is a beautiful, fast growing tree with flaking grey or cream bark (mature tree) that is very easy to grow. The juvenile leaves are a lovely silvery-blue colour changing shape and colour as they get older and stand out as an excellent specimen plant. Eucalyptus Gunnii are very hardy and can be hard pruned in spring to grow the best juvenile foliage. Plant in full sun and unless you want a tree chop the top off and it wil form a bush of new shoots in spring. Thin to a strong shoot and off it goes again. Eucalyptus as young plants tend to grow quite 'leggy' due to apical dominance. The leading growth tip gets the most enegry and hence the most growth, leading to an upright appearance rather than bushy, unless pruned.
